BIOGRAPHY

Petra Fuhrmann
German by birth. Hainanese by residence. Cosmopolitan by heart.
Petra started painting in 2013 triggered by the tropical shine of Singapore, her happy place at that time. She has always been fascinated by the colors of light she caught a glimpse of during her travels: the darkest skies and brightest stars on Crete, the lush greenery of Taiwan’s East Coast Road, the mellow-yellow sand of the desserts around Luxor, the unreal purple glow of the Boracay sunset, the ocean’s deep blue of the Santorini Caldera.
Unsurprisingly, her work is inspired by this love of colors. Petra never paints with a specific image in mind, but simply knows when she has reached her destination – sometimes the journey takes mere 15 minutes, sometimes more than 2 months. She wonders around in a state of innocence till the surprising has happened. If she could,
Petra would keep all her paintings for herself forever. But there always comes a time where you must make space for new work. Her pictures hang in the homes and offices of art lovers in Singapore, Shanghai, Düsseldorf, and Stockholm where she had exhibitions in the past.
